Where is the Crestone Energy Fair located?
The Crestone Energy Fair is located in downtown Crestone, Colorado. Crestone is three and a half hours south of Denver, and two and a half hours north of Taos, New Mexico in Colorado’s San Luis Valley. The event is held in multiple places throughout town, including Town Hall Park, Little Pearl Park & Creekside Park.
Is public transportation available?
There is public transportation from Denver’s Union Station to Salida, and a connection in Salida at 54 Hones Avenue to Moffat at 5th & Reynolds, which is a 20-minute drive from downtown Crestone. More info can be found here.
Within Crestone, hitchhiking is still alive and well if you don’t have a car, and are staying outside of the downtown area. Electric bikes are also a fantastic way to get around.
How much does it cost to attend the event?
The Crestone Energy Fair has been a free event since its inception in 1990. We honor this tradition to offer free education to all regardless of their financial situation. We encourage donation or a trade for volunteer hours in order to help us create an atmosphere of true exchange. Please consider making a contribution through our Colorado Gives Day campaign.
Where can I find the event schedule?
The schedule for 2024 is still being finalized, and we will post it online and announce it via social media as soon as it’s available.
Where can I park?
Official parking instructions will be available onsite.
Is there Wifi, cell service, power, water, shade, and bathrooms on-site?
Wifi:
The Town of Crestone offers free, public Wifi. Network: Ciello WiFi Password: ciellowifi
Cell service:
Most cell networks work in town, but the connection can be spotty.
Power:
There is no power available on-site, except for vendors, presenters, and musicians.
Water:
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own drinking water. For food vendors, water will be available on-site for hand washing.
Shade:
Pockets of shade throughout town are available, and each stage will feature shaded audience seating areas. Please consider bringing a large-brimmed hat and sunscreen for areas without shade.
Bathrooms:
Port-a-Johns will be available throughout downtown.
Do I need to bring my own food?
You are welcome to bring your own food, but it’s not necessary. The Crestone Energy Fair will feature a variety of food vendors catering to many different dietary preferences. Our two local grocery stores, The Elephant Cloud and The Mercantile will also be open.
What are the camping and lodging options?
Camping: BLM and Forest Service land is close and free to camp on in Colorado for up to 14 days in one location. The North Crestone Campground is also just outside of town. Camping sites are first come, first serve.
Lodging: Crestone features many rentals available on Airbnb and VRBO, and one hotel in town called The Bliss Inn.
What is your policy for trash, recycling, and compost?
We ask that you help us Leave No Trace by packing it in/packing it out. There will be trash, recycling and composting receptacles on site, but please remember we are far from services and every bit of cooperative clean-up helps. Compost is welcome to stay for local garden projects.
What are the closest emergency services?
Call 911 for Emergencies.
Basic First aid will be available for attendees on site. The Baca Grande Emergency Medical Services is the closest EMS and ambulance service, located within a few miles of the event. The nearest hospitals are an hour away in Alamosa and Salida, CO.
How far is the nearest gas station?
There is one gas station in downtown Crestone, located outside the Elephant Cloud Market. The next closest gas stations are 26 miles away in Saguache, and 32 miles away in Mosca.
Are pets allowed?
Pets are allowed on leash, but please be mindful of the heat and the crowds. This will be a very busy event. We encourage you to leave pets at home if you can.
Is The Crestone Energy Fair family-friendly?
Yes! There will be a Family Village hosted by Rainbow Lightning. If you plan on bringing children, please consider helping out with a volunteer shift in the village. Contact Taylor for more info - taylorthetailor@rainbowlightning.org.
